performing drawing
This series began from gestural drawings of the hand and later expanded to include the rest of the body.
I made the drawing costume in 2017 and started taking photographs in my studio with a camera on self-timer. I drew over the images, emphasizing the drawing-like quality of the traces left by the body's movement in the costume. I began using video, and incorporated drawing into moving images, which resulted in the drawing costume videos above. 'Drawing and me' won M16 drawing prize in 2017 and was exhibited in the exhibition 'Performing drawing' at the National Gallery of Australia in 2018. The video 'you or me' was made following a session at Ainslie and Gorman Art Centre.with Co.Lab, a group that meets for cross-disciplinary performance practice.
